Moto G4 Plus Gets September 2017 Android Security Patch Update In India

Moto G4 Plus is the only Lenovo-owned G-series android smartphone that has been getting updates since its launch. Since its launch last year the Moto G4 Plus received several quality updates to cure its heating issues and buggy performance. The Moto G4 Plus is now currently running android 7.0 Nougat and previously it was a strong contender for android Oreo upgrade. But Motorola denied delivering the android 8.0 Oreo to this phone when it officially published the list of eligible device. But now Motorola has confirmed that Moto G4 Plus will be getting android 8.0 Oreo soon thereby keeping its promise that they made during the launch event.

The android 8.0 Oreo update schedule is not confirmed meanwhile Moto G4 Plus has received yet another important android security patch update. This latest update is known as the September security patch update which fixes several android vulnerabilities up to September 1st, 2017. One of the main android vulnerability identified as BlueBorne.

BlueBorne is an android vulnerability that can leverage Bluetooth connections to take complete control over your android smartphone. The bad thing about this vulnerability is that there is no need to make a paired Bluetooth connection or let it set in discoverable mode.
The Moto G4 Plus September Security Patch update NPJS25.93-14-10 fixes this vulnerability. So if your phone is notifying you of this update then don't ignore at any cost. Android security patch updates are not something to be ignored. The NPJS25.93-14-10 weighs only 35 MB and takes only 10 minutes to install.

To install this latest update go to 'Settings>About phone>System updates'. When you see the notification tap 'YES, I'M IN'. Wait for the package to download. After downloading tap 'Install Now'. Before updating make sure that the phone's battery is charged to at least 60%.

Should You Install The September Security Patch Update On Your Moto G4 Plus

Yes, you should install this security update. This security patch update doesn't affect the phone's performance. We haven't come across any heating issues after installing it and the phone is working usually. One thing we have noted that after installing the September security patch on Moto G4 Plus the screen burn problem has slightly reduced. After updating to the latest build NPJS25.93-14-10 the phone's screen is not fading heavily. The screen burn problem is still there but it has slowed down a little bit.
