5 Troubleshooting Tips For Android

Troubleshooting means problem solving. In this post you will be troubleshooting your android phone.Don't worry as you don't need to be an expert troubleshooter.I am providing solutions to some very common problems in android about which most of the users do not know.

The solutions to these problems are in the android phone only and you don't need any app or any other person. It's a just "Do It Yourself" task.So let's troubleshoot these common problems one by one.

1.Data/GPRS/3G Network Not Working : One good thing about android is that you can identify the type of network you are using. An "E" alphabet shows GPRS active where "H" or "3G" shows WCDMA active. But situations arise when nothing work except the normal network. If data network is not working in your android phone then you have to reset your phone's network.Resetting your phone's network will revive data/GPRS on android. To reset the network just do as follows.
  • goto "settings".
  • open "Wireless and networks".
  • Click "Flight mode".
  • Wait for few seconds and then disable "Flight mode" by unchecking it.
  • Now scroll down and goto "Mobile networks" and check the "Use packet data" option.
  • Your data network will work.
Note : If you are out of your home network and is in roaming then enable "Data roaming" option otherwise GPRS/3G services won't work in roaming.

2.SD Card Not Working On Android : When the sd card is not formatted properly then it will be unreadable in android and you will see a memory card or sim like icon with a screw in it in the notifications bar, which shows a problem with sd card if it appears continuously.Though it disappears automatically after scanning the files in sd memory. If it doesn't disappear after few seconds then the sd card has some problem. To troubleshoot this problem just connect your android phone in storage mode to pc via USB.Then follow below steps.
  • Move or copy all your files from sd card to pc.
  • After moving or copying the data just format it by using the windows os.You know how to format a pendrive the procedure is same for android.Only format using FAT or FAT32 format but not NTFS.
  • Copy your data to sd card from pc after formatting and re-insert it in phone.
3.Too Many Homescreens : Too many homescreens can be a mess if you don't need them.To delete unused homescreens just pinch zoom out on main homescreen and delete it by long pressing and dragging it to trash icon below. The trick works for Samsung devices and may or may not be same for other android phones.

4.Message Limit Reached Per Conversation : If you are text message savvy then it is not good to limit yourself. The text message limit per conversation is 200 messages but you can increase this number to 1000 messages.Just do as follows.
  • Open messages.
  • Click menu and select "settings".
  • Select "Text message limit" and increase the limit as much as you want.
5.No Outgoing Or Incoming Calls : This basically happens to android when you are roaming. If you are unable to make and receive calls then you are not registered on network. To troubleshoot this problem do as follows.
  • Open Settings.
  • Select "Wireless and networks".
  • Select "Mobile networks".
  • Select "Network operators".
  • After searching click "Select automatically".
  • Then you are registered on network.
  • You will be able to make and receive calls.
Now you have troubleshooted all the common problems on android. Now you are a qualified android troubleshooter, and won't get these problems again. These troubleshoots are tested on Samsung galaxy devices and may be a little different from other android devices but it will work anyway.
