Moto G 3rd Generation Received Android 6.0.1 Update In India


Users of Moto G 3rd Generation (Moto G 2015) have started receiving the android 6.0.1 update in India. The new update size is 371 MB which also includes the android security patch up to March 1st, 2016. So after installing this update your Moto G3 will be more secure against security threats like the stagefright. Apart from this security update, we can now activate the camera by pressing the power buttons two times. This is a new feature for activating the camera on Moto G 2015, the other being twist to capture.

Also, you can now turn on and off the sound of a camera shutter. A dedicated shutter tone button can be found in camera settings. The update size is approx 371 MB and it will take around 15-20 minutes to install completely. Since it is an official OTA update then your data will be safe while updating. So no need to backup data.

This is a minor update which fixes several bugs and improves device's performance. There are no changes in UI and all the features are same. This is a security update that you should not skip. The update is currently rolled out in India but will soon be available in United States. The software version is 24.61.55.en.03.

How To Update Moto G 3rd Generation To Android 6.0.1

Note: Before updating make sure that the phone is charged to more than 50%.

If you have already received the OTA notification then tap 'Yes I'm in'. After the phone finishes the download tap 'Install now'. Your phone will restart to update itself. Don't disturb the upgrading process and keep your phone aside for 10-15 minutes. The phone will boot to home screen after the upgrading process has finished.

If you haven't received the notification. Then go to 'Settings>About phone>System updates'. Wait for few seconds to let your phone check for updates. The OTA is being released in phases so it can happen that you may receive the OTA 2-3 days after reading this article.
