How To Setup And Pair Apple Watch With Your iPhone


Apple Watch isn't a standalone digital watch. It is a smartwatch developed by Apple to work along with your iPhone. The main task of this Apple Watch is tracking fitness and building a coordination between itself and your iPhone. It performs many functions when paired with iPhone 6 like receiving phone calls, sending SMS texts, iMessage, use Apple pay, control Apple TV and use it as a walkie-talkie. But these functions are only possible when it is connected to iPhone.

However when unpaired it can still do many things see things Apple Watch can do when not paired with iPhone. To unlock the full potential of this watch you need to connect it with your phone.

Pre-Requisites


  • You should have at least iPhone 5 running iOS 8.2 or later. Otherwise watch will not work.
  • Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled, go to Settings > Bluetooth and enable it.
  • Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network.
  • Turn on your Apple Watch by pressing and holding the side button next to the Digital Crown until you see the Apple logo.
  • Both the devices should be charged, and keep them close together as you pair and sync them.
  • Pairing Apple Watch with multiple iPhones is not supported.
How To Setup And Pair Apple Watch With Your iPhone


  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone 5.
  • Then tap a language on your Apple Watch. Use the Digital Crown to scroll through the list or use swipe.
  • Tap 'Start Pairing' on your Apple Watch and then on your iPhone. A pairing animation will appear on your wearable.

  • Hold your iPhone's viewfinder over the pairing animation on your Apple Watch until a message says Your Apple Watch is Paired.The camera will detect the animation to complete the pairing.


  • On your iPhone, tap 'Set Up as New'.
  • Pick a wrist by tapping Right or Left on your iPhone. Then read t&c and tap Agree to continue.
  • If you want to use Digital Touch, Handoff and Apple Pay then you need to sign in with your Apple ID.
  • On your iPhone, choose whether to make a passcode for your Apple Watch. You'll need a Passcode for features like Apple Pay.
  • If you tap 'Create a Passcode' or Add a Long Passcode on your iPhone, you'll be asked to make a personal code using your Apple Watch. Then decide whether your Apple Watch will unlock with your iPhone or not.
  • Tap 'Install All' to sync iPhone apps that work with Apple Watch.


  • On successful pairing the 'Activity' app will appear on your iPhone which was previously hidden.
  • This activity app tracks your fitness and workout. It comes to life when Apple Watch is connected to iPhone.
