WhatsApp Will No Longer Support Older Phones: Check If Your Phone Is On The List


Facebook-owned WhatsApp has officially released a list of smartphones that will no longer support it. After reaching the deadlines WhatsApp can't be installed on these phones. WhatsApp will start to drop the support for most of the older phones this coming week. WhatsApp has evolved from a simple instant messaging app to a superior chat app having video call facility, voice call facility, and file sharing options.


WhatsApp has made it clear that new features of the app will not work properly and some features will also stop working on these phones after 31st December 2017. Below is the list of smartphones that will not support WhatsApp starting December 31st.

List Of Phones That Will Not Support WhatsApp After December 31st 2017

  • Nokia Symbian S60 after June 30, 2017
  • BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 after December 31, 2017
  • Windows Phone 8.0 and older after December 31, 2017
  • Nokia S40 after December 31, 2018
  • Android versions 2.3.7 and older after February 1, 2020

In a Feb 26, 2016 blog post from the company it was stated that the support for Nokia S40 and will end by the end of 2016. But the company has now extended it to December 31, 2018. The support for Nokia S60 has already ended. BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 users will not be able to use WhatsApp after this coming week.

So if your phone is in the above list then it is wise to upgrade your phone.
