How To Temporarily Disable Google WebLight In Chrome For Android

Google WebLight is Google’s own website compression service that is designed to work on slow networks. With Google WebLight the chrome for android is able to compress the webpages in such a way that they use 80% less internet data. Google WebLight automatically activates when a slow network is detected whether it is Wi-Fi or mobile networks. However there is still an option to load the original version of the webpage on slow networks.

Google WebLight doesn’t work on fast networks like 4G LTE. It is currently not available in USA. It only works when a slow network is detected. Somehow it works like Opera Mini, but not completely. When pages are compressed in chrome for android, they may look improper because all the information is not processed by Google WebLight and only useful information is displayed.

We can’t permanently disable weblight because it resides on Google’s servers and automatically activates when slow network is encountered. We can only revert it to view original page when the compressed page appears.

Sharing a single bit of knowledge to the world is helpful to many people and it is not necessary that you know about it then everybody knows about it. There are still many people around the globe who doesn't know what android is. If you do not like the article then its okay.

    1. The article does what it says. There is nothing wrong in it.

Its easy to say bad anything about anyone. But most people don't see the hard work and keep saying bad. You can see the article's social share count is 921, so people who shared it think that this article is useful.

I do agree that we can't control weblight but we can disable it even on slow networks and I told the same thing in this article. You might have just gone through the comments without reading the article completely.

Advice: I would have appreciated your efforts if you have provided me a better solution for the WebLight instead of this foolish comment. This is the only difference between a winner and a looser.

  4. All good except the title. Change it to "How to dismiss" not "How to disable"
